We take a look at two of the latest lightweight, full face enduro helmets to hit the shops, the 100% Trajecta and the IXS Trigger FF. Plus there’s men’s riding kit from Leatt, a new bike from Specialized and a carbon lid from Alpina. Dig in.

Alpina Rootage helmet

The Rootage is a trail and enduro lid from Alpina, it features low coverage at the rear, an adjustable peak plus the brands COOLMAX lining. The lower edge of the lid is covered with something they call ‘Edge Protect’, a ceramic shell which ensures that vulnerable the bottom EPS of the helmet isn’t damaged by daily knocks and bumps. Elsewhere the helmet has carbon fibre plates incorporated over the outer shell which Alpina says makes it more resistant to damage. There’s no MIPS or other such ‘rotational forces’ safety feature though and at £150 it doesn’t come cheap either.

100% Tracjecta full face enduro helmet

One of a few full face enduro helmet’s we have in on test at the moment, the 100% Trajecta is easily one of the most stylish. Available in a range of colours, 100% says this helmet is light and breathable utilising their Smartshock suspended rotational protection system. This system is essentially a number of shock absorbers connecting the helmet shell and the liner, allowing the liner to compress and move independently in response to impact.

Elsewhere there are 24 ventilation ports, a non-removable chin piece, adjustable visor, anti-microbial liner and a D-ring closure chin strap. It comes in two sizes small/medium and large/XL.

Leatt DBX 2.0 jersey

Just like the women’s Leatt gear, we featured last week, the DBX 2.0 men’s long sleeve jersey gets a casual look and a ‘cotton feel’ material. It’s light, stretchy and the brand says it’s breathable too. There is a range of colours, plus short and long sleeve options.

Leatt DBX 4.0 shorts

The DBX 4.0’s get a water resistant coating, laser cut ventilation and a tailored fit for knee pads. There is reinforcement on the knees and both hip as well as rear pockets. At £100 they aren’t cheap but they do look feature laden.

IXS Trigger FF helmet

You might recognise the ‘Trigger’ name, its the name of IXS’s trail lid. There’s a new kid on the block though, the Trigger FF – a full face version aimed at enduro riders wanting a light lid with chin bar protection. The visor is adjustable, there’s a magnetic closure and it claims to weigh in at 660g for the medium/large size.
