Following the feature on gravel bikes’ suitability for commuting, we’ve also compared the off-road bike to the most common commuting bike – the hybrid. Hybrid bikes are affordable, user-friendly, and low-maintenance options, catering to riders of all skill levels with their comfortable design and flat handlebars. On the other hand, gravel bikes are lauded for their speed and adaptability on various terrains, making them also ideal for longer rides. 

Shimano introduces all-new Gravity Enduro and Flat shoes

Shimano has published its latest Gravity Enduro (GE) and Gravity Flat (GF) series of mountain bike shoes, catering to aggressive trail, enduro, and downhill riders. The GE series features SPD-compatible shoes and the GF series is designed for flat pedal trails and downhill riders. Both series are available in men’s and women’s fits, and the shoes range from £120 to £220, with the GF4 offering a wider size range.

Pivot’s Shuttle AM gets a complete overhaul

Pivot has given its Shuttle AM e-MTB a proper update, bringing it in line with the rest of the brand’s range. The major changes include a new vertical shock layout, providing space for a full-size water bottle and boosting frame stiffness. The bike now features a Bosch drive system, replacing the Shimano motor, and there are three different builds available. The top model boasts Bosch’s limited-edition Performance CX Race motor and a 750Wh battery. Prices start at $9,000, with UK prices to be announced soon

Specialized releases affordable Power Expert Mirror saddle

Specialized has introduced a new Power Expert Mirror saddle to the market, featuring 3D Mirror Technology at a more affordable price point. This one retains the popular Power saddle’s short-nose shape with a cutout design for optimal blood flow, but comes in 130mm, 143mm, 155mm, and 168mm widths and is priced at £160, significantly cheaper than other Specialized Mirror saddles.

YT Industries expands its Performance Wear range

YT Industries has broadened its Performance Wear range with the addition of Gravity 
and Trail legwear. The new collection includes Gravity Pants and Shorts, designed to handle the toughest mountain biking conditions. The items are available in both men’s and women’s sizes, feature pre-shaped knees for pad compatibility and come with DWR coating. Prices range from £80 to £110.
