Which are your favourite bib shorts? Does your bottom need cosseting with top-end, high-tech fabrics and pad, or do you have buns of steel that do just fine in budget shorts? In our first People's Choice survey, we hope to find out.
We know road.cc readers never hesitate to tell us what you think when we review anything controversial. Our new People's Choice series is your platform to share your knowledge and tell us, the bike industry and your fellow readers about the products and places that you think are really great and that you use or visit everyday and would recommend to a friend.
We're kicking off with bib shorts because they're such a vital part of being comfy on the bike.
Here's how it works:
- Post the make and model of your favourite shorts in the comments. Drop in a link to where you can find them if you like.
- If your favourite is already there, just click the star to give it a 'Like'.
- The comments that get the most likes will be the road.cc People's Choice for bib shorts. Simple.

This is an experiment, of course, but if it's successful then future surveys will cover lots of other equipment, shops, cafes and so on. We might even manage to turn this into something as prestigious as the great Knot of the Year Award.
Over to you!
Update, June 25: Voting is now closed while we collate the responses. Thanks to everyone who took part!

For any significant distance I tend to turn to Castelli Nanoflex. I get on well with the chamois and I’m yet to see a day this summer where warm, water resistant shorts haven’t been a good option.

I can, and most definitely will second this. I received my first pair of Bibs from them (the KOM – http://www.redwhite.cc/kom/) just before doing a century ride and I couldn’t be more impressed. They are engineered using the latest in CAD systems to provide all day comfort without any chafing or moving about. They use the micro-bead grips for the legs and they are top quality.
As to their customer service, I contacted them about sizing questions and I received a response from the designer and engineer and after taking my measurements, he pointed me in the right direction. This was all at 01:00 in his country, while it was mid-day here in the US. That certainly speaks to the quality of customer service!
If you are in the market for a new pair, do yourself a favor and give RedWhite a try. You will NOT be disappointed!

They are supremely comfortable for riding super hard or for long days in the saddle. The chamois is lovely – slightly different from the one in the Rapha Classic shorts and an improvement. The lycra is really supportive, the grippers deep and comfortable. Plus they look great. If you damage them crashing Rapha will do their best to repair them.

I’m a big fan of the Louis Garneau Neo Power Bibs (this appears to be the latest model, I’ve had mine a few years and these are a bit cheaper and look a bit different http://www.evanscycles.com/products/louis-garneau/neo-power-motion-bib-short-ec101939). I really like the compression-effect the material has, its a nice mix of lycra and some other stretchy material, they’re a tad longer than most shorts (not as long as Nanoflex bibs, maybe an inch less. I find other Castelli bibs too short in the leg, eg the Velocissimo – I’m only 5’6″ so don’t go thinking I’m a leggy one!), and the gripper is incredibly comfortable – its really a 3-inch wide panel so no irritation on the legs. They’re not too warm on hot days or cold in autumn/spring, maybe a tad too thin for deep winter when leg warmers may be needed. I’ve got the Nanoflex for then!

Rapha Classic Bib Shorts for me. Classy as hell, with the matt finish being a little less showy than the Pro Team shorts. Pad is epic – I did 5 hours on Sunday having never done more than 2 before and the one part of me that didn’t hurt was my backside. Expensive, but you truly do get what you pay for.
