We’ve said it time and time again: cross-country is getting mighty gnarly, and the proof is all over social media with riders hitting sizey jumps and tumbling down spicy rock gardens. With the increased rigor of what modern XC tracks are posing, Reserve has upped its game to provide fresh 30|XC wheels that are focused on strength and efficiency.
Cross-country courses are getting more demanding, so more is being asked of the wheels athletes are riding on. With that in mind, Reserve reckons that its new 30|XC wheelset is up to the task of providing riders more control and strength, but without adding grams.

Every facet of the wheelset is totally up to date. XC riders are choosing fatter tyres for more grip and more comfort. As such, the 30|XC comes sorted with 30mm internal widths on each rim with the aim of accommodating 2.35″ up tp 2.5″ tyres.
Built using the 28|XC wheelset as a foundation, the new wheels feature more spokes, moving from 24 per wheel up to 28. This move is set to add strength but without too much extra weight, says Reserve.

There are two models of the 30|XC wheelset available, and things get very interesting when we look at the DT 350-equipped model. There’s a small hint there, but as it runs DT Swiss’s 150 DEG hub, it comes with the brand’s Degrees of Freedom technology preinstalled. This neat little system brings some deadband into the freehub, which works to combat pedal kickback, making for a smoother ride. It’s adjustable, too, and if it’s not for you, it can be set to an ‘off position’.
But if it’s lightweight you’re looking for, the DT 180 CL SP CS model comes with DT Swiss’s 180 hub, and is poised to weigh as little as 1,304g. For reference, the DT 350 build is claimed to weigh 1,515g.
As for prices, the Reserve 30|XC DT 350 DEG DF XC will set you back £1,599 while the Reserve 30|XC DT 180 CL SP CS costs £2,699.
