It’s a mostly techy edition of our weekly e-bike round-up this time, featuring some e-bike goodness from Taipei and some rather luxurious limited edition bikes with Mercedes livery…
E-bikes at Taipei International Cycle Show

All eyes are on Taipei. The Taiwanese city is currently hosting the Taipei International Cycle Show, Asia’s largest expo for all things two-wheeled and 32-inched. And, somewhat inevitably, there are electric motors. Lots of motors…
First up, Chinese e-scooter company Navee has announced that it’s making moves into the e-bike market. Taking pride of place at the Taipei International Cycle is the company’s Speed Pedelec SP01, a chunky urban e-bike promising up to 1500W power, 100Nm torque and speeds of up to 45 km/h.
Obviously this bike wouldn’t be street legal in its current form in the UK, but the company is currently targeting Italian and German markets so there’s a chance they could come to Blighty as well.
Asus – yes them off of affordable laptops – enters the e-bike conversion kit chat

In a total curveball, Asus (yes, that Asus) is entering the e-bike market with its E250G1 conversion kit. This 3.8kg all-in-one kit clamps onto your seatpost and its 159Wh battery is said to provide up to 51km of range. It’s compatible with 16 to 29-inch wheels and it includes a rear light plus USB-C charging. It’s interesting to see that Asus, the company that made the very laptop I’m typing these words on, is bringing its expertise to the e-bike market.
Beryl hits the streets in Canterbury

Residents of Canterbury will be able to get around via a fleet of e-bikes. 120 Beryl e-bikes have been rolled out across the Kent city, according to Kent Online, who also “spotted three of the green bicycles dumped on their sides across the path.”
Maybe Canterbury could learn a thing or two from Lambeth borough council. The south London council is tackling the problem of bad e-bike parking by converting more than 120 kerbside car-parking spaces into bike parking, as Megan reported last week.
Limited edition Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team bikes launched

Mercedes-AMG is celebrating the start of the F1 season with three appropriately expensive e-bikes. Created by partner n+ Bikes, the bikes are limited to a run of 500 worldwide, and they’re signed by drivers George Russell and Kimi Antonelli.

The bikes start at £3,999 for a City Edition, stretching up to £4,999 for the Track version and £6,999 for the Rallye model. They all boast 250W motors, a max range of 100km, and come in F1-style liveries with a special edition cockpit. We’d love to see them go head-to-head with McLaren’s more mountainous e-bikes.
