The Castelli Sanremo Thermosuit has been one of the most talked about pieces of cycle clothing since it launched last October. Why exactly all the buzz? Castelli have taken their Paris-Roubaix winning Speedsuit and turned into into a one-piece winter package that is one of the most innovative cold-weather garments we've seen in some time.

The Castelli Viva Women's Cap looks a lot like most other cycling caps, in that it's made from cotton and sports the same sort of peak, shaped crown and elasticated section at the back, allowing it to qualify for its 'one size fits all' status.

We asked Castelli what makes this a ladies' cap, and they came back with this: "The Viva Cotton Cap is a Unisex option, sizing is the same as men's hats with a lot more elastic movement on the rear."

The Castelli Diluvio 16 overshoes are warm and a touch taller than usual, and they do a good job of keeping water out.

These are made from 3mm thick neoprene that's stretchy enough to pull over your shoes really easily. The neoprene wraps around the sides of your feet and round to the soles with just holes for your cleat and heel, so you get good insulation here.

The Castelli Uno: Uno Plasma is a close-fitting long sleeved base layer for the cooler weather that provides good moisture management.

It's 100% polyester and the fabric has been given a 'nano-plasma' treatment to help take moisture from your skin and spread it out to aid evaporation.

Castelli's Estremo gloves are a warm, windproof and very comfortable option for the cold weather.

If you don't know, I'm sure you could guess that 'estremo' is the Italian for 'extreme', and Castelli have certainly made these gloves to stand up to the cold.

The outers are made from Windstopper X-Fast fabric that does exactly what its name promises. That includes the cuffs which are plenty long enough for tucking your jersey sleeves inside to avoid getting cold wrists.

The Castelli Toe Thingy provides a little extra warmth on days that are cool but not so cold that you want to go with full overshoes.

First of all, the name: Toe Thingy. That's class.

Quite a lot of brands do toe covers (as they're more commonly known) and they're usually variations on a theme. They're mostly, although not always, neoprene – essentially, the end of a pair of neoprene overshoes. You get a cutout for your cleat and that's what holds them in place.
