Hopton downhill trails

There are a number of black graded downhill trails to pick from at Hopton, with all offering a serious technical challenge due to their unsurfaced, root and rock infested nature. 

Ski Run

This might be the original downhill track at Pedalabikeaway, but it still offers plenty of fun and thrills thanks to a mix of drops, jumps and high-speed corners, before finishing up with with a reasonably sized road gap that spits you at near the skills section.

Corkscrew

Starting things off with some fast and furious bermed corners, Corkscrew amps up the twisty start with an infamously tricky section of roots, where line choice is hugely important – and nigh on impossible in the wet. Flatland

This short section offers a different and slightly less steep access into the bottom section of the Sheepskull trail. You’ll still need your wits about you though, as there are plenty of roots and stumps mixed up in the corners to catch the unwary. It’s accessed from the push-up track.

Cougar Route

While Cougar Root isn’t quite as steep as Mr Rooty, it’s still a very natural feeling trail that delivers up lots of loam and plenty of exposed roots to keep you on your toes – especially in the wet. If you like to get a drift on, it’ll be right up your street.
