Fantasy Cycling
The Met Police say the footage submitted by the cyclist – who was told that he “posed a danger to other road users” – has been used for internal training purposes
“These attacks should not be thought of as simple ‘bike theft’; they are violent crimes which leave victims physically injured and mentally traumatised, often unable to feel safe cycling in London again”
The cyclist is set to face trial for “riding without due care and attention”, while the driver has received a police “advisory letter” but faced no criminal case.
One cyclist — targeted by motorbike-riding bikejackers while riding a £15,000 Pinarello Dogma — said it is "normally the same three brands: Pinarello, Bianchi and S-Works", with Brompton also reportedly writing to the Met Police commissioner urging action
"I had two bright front lights as well as flashing blue lights on my wheel spokes. The bike is massive and well-illuminated in all directions so there is zero excuse for not seeing it."
The collision, which took place during an emergency call, was the second crash in the space of two weeks involving the driver of a police vehicle and a vulnerable road user on the same stretch of road
"He deliberately shoved me into oncoming traffic, then used his vehicle to drive over the poor cyclist who'd come to help me, and then he pushed me..."
Recent incidents target riders in and around Regent’s Park in the early morning
The Metropolitan Police has since confirmed the advice came from a plain-clothes officer, who stopped to dish out the unwanted rebuke following the collision in central London
Fatal collision happened in Shoreditch on 14 August, officers believe man they are seeking may have interacted with driver shortly beforehand
