The squad formerly known as Israel-Premier Tech have rebranded as NSN Cycling Team for 2026, and will race under a Swiss licence and be based in Spain. Will that prove enough to quell the protests?
Factor’s reported exit comes after title sponsor Premier Tech stepped away from the controversial squad this month, claiming it had become “untenable” to continue
The race was expected to finish on Tenerife and Gran Canaria but reports suggest the route will have to be redrawn before its presentation next month
The suggestion, made by the Israeli Cycling Federation’s president, comes just weeks after the Vuelta a España was severely disrupted by protests against Israel-Premier Tech’s participation in the race
Gee says the team’s decision to seek damages “strengthens my belief that leaving was the right decision, regardless of the recent announcement of branding changes and cosmetic structural shifts”
The team's owner Sylvan Adams will also step back from his day-to-day involvement with the team, according to a statement released today
The squad will instead use the abbreviated ‘IPT’ on race signage at the events in Québec City and Montréal, as they prepare for more pro-Palestine protests. However, the team insist they have not changed their name for the races
George questions whether the current situation that Israel-Premier Tech and the whole pro peloton find themselves in could have a lasting impact on how cycling teams are created, and who their sponsors are
Comments come as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praises team for "not giving in to hate and intimidation"
The video was posted by official Israel accounts and the Israel Foreign Ministry on social media
