The Troy Lee Designs Skyline Air short-sleeve jersey is a perfect hot-weather mountain biking offering, managing moisture and heat very well. The open mesh material is thin, lightweight and offers great airflow, and most importantly, it doesn’t cling to skin when wet. The sizing is spot on, and the relaxed fit is comfortable without being too baggy. The sleeves might be a little short for some, and you’ll need to watch out for trail-side thorns that’ll damage it, but overall, it’s a great summer jersey if you don’t mind the price.
Troy Lee Designs Skyline Air Short Sleeve jersey – Technical details
The Skyline Air jersey is intended to be your ‘go-to’ for hot summer days thanks to its airy construction and relaxed fit with gives plenty of room to move and promotes air flow. A slight V-neck cut also helps with reducing restriction whilst moving on the bike.

Built from Troy Lee Designs (TLD) Airmesh blend of 92% polyester and 8% Spandex®, the jersey focuses on wicking moisture efficiently and drying quickly – ideal for those sweaty hot days when you’re trying to keep cool. Whilst the jersey has no ventilation holes, the Airmesh fabric has a matrix of rectangles where the material is extra-thin, allowing air to flow in and heat to vent out.
A large microfibre wipe is incorporated behind the left hip, which is handy for wiping glass lenses. All the seams are double-stitched with a smooth finish, and the back of the neck features an extra-large hem for increased comfort. Some subtle logos finish off the jersey; they are placed high on the chest and low, behind the left hip.

TLD recognises the impact of clothing materials on the environment; therefore, this jersey is constructed with Bluesign-approved fabric to reduce environmental impact.
The Skyline Air short-sleeve jersey is available in five sizes, ranging from S to XXL, and there are six colourway options.
Troy Lee Designs Skyline Air Short Sleeve jersey – Performance
Starting with the sizing, I found the large to fit as expected, and the cut is, as TLD describes, relaxed, although certainly not baggy. The arms are perhaps a little on the short side, coming approximately halfway down to the elbows, however, this makes sense considering the all-out lightweight summer jersey intentions. Length in the torso is generous with a handy dropped tail to keep rear-tyre debris out.

The Airmesh material is soft to the touch and feels comfortable against the skin even when wet; the lack of clinging when wet is a welcome benefit. It does a good job of wicking moisture and dries quickly in a breeze, although it does show wet patches, albeit they’ll be less obvious on the darker colours. The matrixed material breathes really well, however, that thin material doesn’t stand up well to thorns and other trail-side snags, so a word of caution there.

The microfibre wipe is a welcome addition, as the Airmesh material doesn’t work as a wipe. It’s a good size, allowing multiple uses before it gets saturated. The positioning is, however, a little awkward to use and, on the hottest days, I found my sweat got to it before I could make use of it.
Troy Lee Designs Skyline Air Short Sleeve jersey – Verdict
Retailing at £65, it’s not a cheap jersey, however, I really dig the lightweight airy feel and comfort on offer. Another high-performing summer jersey is the 7Mesh Men’s Atlas Short Sleeve Shirt, which comes in at £75. It was praised for its great fit and fast-wicking material; however, it does show sweat marks and is still pricey.
A more budget-friendly option, at £45, is the Specialised Trail Air jersey, which proves to be comfortable and fast-wicking but is on the slimmer side and has limited styles on offer.
The Troy Lee Designs Skyline Air short-sleeve jersey is an excellent warm-weather companion, managing moisture and heat admirably. The Airmesh material is super thin, breezy and importantly doesn’t cling to the body when wet. With sensible sizing and a relaxed fit, this is a solid trail jersey, but watch out for trail-side snags from thorns to keep it looking its best.
