The Scott Trail 20 jersey is a long sleeved women’s number for temperate conditions. It’s light and soft with clean lines and some funky colourways to brighten up your riding wardrobe.

There are lots of great looking polyester women’s jersey’s to choose from these days so to stand out from the crowd, good styling is a must. I think Scott are bang on the money where their Trail 20 jersey is concerned, it bright, it’s not overtly feminine and has a cut that is neither too tight or too loose with a nice long rear panel.

It might be worth noting at this point that although the jersey here looks a tad baggy, I’m a size 8-10 and wore a size medium but would have been equally as happy in a small. Some post Xmas dieting has seen to it that my winter insulation is depleting!

The jersey is constructed from two different lightweight materials a more abrasion resistant type for the waist and shoulders and a ‘Durofresh’ polyester / elastane mix for the main body of the jersey.  Scott says their Durofresh fabric uses natural, environmentally friendly agents to fight odour through their anti-microbial, anti-bacterial, and anti-fungal properties. The latter of the two materials gives stretch to the upper body and underarms whilst leaving the lower part of the jersey reinforced as it fights off mud. The less textured surface of this tougher material certainly fends off the grit well.

The multitude of panels does mean there are lots of seams around the back and the front of the jersey but I’m pleased to say these didn’t cause any rubbing or chafing issues.

Elsewhere on the jersey there is a small pocket near the right-hand side hem where the inner liner doubles as a glasses wipe. The cuffs of the jersey are tight enough to be able to roll the jersey sleeve up, something I like doing in warmer weather, but not too tight that the blood supply is cut off, all good stuff. The neckline sits nicely just on the collarbone too, I’m not a fan of collars that are too low in a riding jersey.

Get on the bike and you’ll soon forget the Scott Trail 20 is there, it’s breathable, layering up well with a good base layer, or similarly, it feels great against the skin on warmer days too. It’s easy to move about it and the sleeves are long enough, dropping to the wrists where the wider arm does tend to flap about a bit but that may be different in a smaller size jersey. The Trail 20 will look great on cross country trails as well as at a downhill race and everything in between.

Pricewise, £56 is a tad steep for a long sleeve jersey but it’s not far off the average £50 mark, if you like the styling it’ll be a price worth paying for a robust jersey for all types of riding.
