As Jens Voigt's 17-year career winds to a close with his last ever professional road race the USA Pro Challenge starting today, Trek's Project One division have created a very special polished chrome Madone 7 with matching shoes and helmet to celebrate his outstanding career in which the German has become the fans' favourite.

Both the helmet and frameset are additionally finished with coloured bands representing some of the teams he raced for, and along the down tube are represented the “ number of souls Voigt has crushed in his career of attacking” from Voigt's 17-year professional career.

Apparently the bike took over a week to complete to achieve the highly polished finish. The bike will be built with standard team issue Bontrager and Shimano Dura-Ace kit with black bar tape and saddle complementing the chromed frame. The stem has also been finished in a chrome colour to match.

He’ll complement the bike with a matching Bontrager Velocis helmet and his Bontrager XXX shoes have been given the same chrome treatment.

There is also a special message on the back of his team jersey, the message  "Farewell Fans!" inscribed across the top. Lastly, along a panel on his shorts is a message to the rest of the peloton: "One last time.”

Trek will be staging  fan cub meetings in Aspen and Vail and more, you can find out how to get involved at www.trekfactoryracing.com/calendar-results/jens-voigt-farewell-tour-usa-pro-challenge

"Jens' team-issued Madone 7 Series is a chrome-colored vision that took Trek Project One artists more than a week to perfectly polish. Trek designers, having worked with Jens in the past, understood the moments and teams throughout the rider's seventeen year career that hold the greatest significance and incorporated them through a graphic that runs the length of the top tube. The down tube includes a running tally of the number of souls Voigt has crushed in his career of attacking, though the number is a conservative estimate," says Trek.
