@imajez Not sure I follow your argument. My point was that I personally do not use dirt tracks, designated as a footpath, where I am going to rip up the surface. I am less concerned with riding on hard pack tracks and surfaced roads that are designated as footpaths. That said, I do ride sedately and for several years accompanied by my small children. The horse thing is a bit of a red herring. In the old days the rich landowners would have been among the few that rode. Most people would have walked.

@chrisonabike You missed registering with DVLA. (Same paperwork as for a new car it appears. But looks like the importer selling them doesn't do said paperwork, so I expect a couple of weeks before you can buy a licence plate to make them road legal...)

Wait til he hears about cars! What a surprise that from street view there's plenty of them spread across the streets he's banned bikes from. Plus there's a municipal bike station right outside the city hall (Commune?). But no, let's ban bikes because he was probably too busy yapping to somebody rather than using his eyes.

Please remove this from ROAD CC. If I wanted to read about gravel bikes I'd go to GRAVEL or OFF ROAD CC. Stop padding out your content with irrelevant stories. I won't stop making these comments until you stop this.

@Rendel Harris Came here to say what ROOTminus1 already has. No, it's not the same, but that's only because a cyclist can effectively turn off the prejudice whenever they like. The cyclist chooses to be in the outgroup, so how can the impact ever be directly comparable. The mechanism of the prejudice and its potential impact, can be compared. Every little 'harmless' anti-cycling joke is another confirmation in someone elses mind that cyclists are subhuman and deserve what ever they get... on and on it goes, until one day, a 69 year old thinks he can plow into a group of cyclists with impunity. Worst of all though, it looks like they may be right.

Re Erola Jons. This is surely an insult to the intelligence of the younger audience the Vuelta organisers are hoping to attract. Why the assumption that lack of knowledge and sexual innuendo would appeal to any age group? May as well have a closing scene of the UAE cycling squad chasing Ms Jons through some thorny bushes, causing her dress to get ripped off, revealing her underwear, all to a background of Yakety Sax?
