Condor Andy wrote:Okay, reading that now. So the combativity jersey is a sprint jersey, with points only from intermediate sprints (the Primus ones). The red points jersey is those and the finish line points. The golden km is only for bonus seconds. It sounds like it.
Simpler than last year where they had 3 intermediate sprints and 2 primus sprints at different points on the route. Double dutch cycle scoring.

Condor Andy wrote:Opening this up soon. No real information on jerseys, but if I’m seeing it correctly, there’s a points jersey and intermediate sprints, but no KOM. There’s a combativity prize as well, but I’m not sure what that entails. If it’s a comp, we’ll score it like a jersey, if it’s a normal day-to-day thing then we’ll do the normal 10 points. Are we ignoring the Golden Sprints?
From wikipedia –
The combativity classification is based solely on points won at the intermediate sprints; the leading rider wins the black jersey.

I’d have won it if I didn’t transfer Mohoric out.
I was watching the coverage without sound so I lost track of what was going on. Didn’t realise Vingegaard got dropped. Surprising considering how strong he looked yesterday.

Condor Andy wrote:Geschke needs to score on the final climb, not sure how many points he needs, I haven’t done the maths. Mohoric with a solo lead but a long way to go. Vingegaard not doing well.Geshke is now leading the KoM.
Looks like Mohoric has got this now.
Not sure why Powless is helping Majka.
Amazed Majka was allowed to get away like that.

I don’t think he can beat Planet in the most active rider competition.

Tom D and Froome missing still obviously, a few of the other big guns either not going or due to leave their current teams… what price a fourth first-time winner on the bounce?Having a team time trial at the start could make it interesting, with certain riders needing to make up time from the start.
If Roglic is racing it will always be interestin becuase he can’t stop himself attacking. although I fear his experience in the Giro may calm him down.

Should be a good race today,
Should be a good race today, hopefully lots of attacking from early on.
My team for today –
IZAGUIRRE I.
HIGUITA
ULISSI
MAJKA
SIVAKOV
FORMOLO
VINGEGAARD
LATOURDecided not to go for the sensible pick – Lindley and go with Formolo who is very capable of attacking long.
After taking out Mohoric he will probably win from the break.

The younsters are taking over.
Historically there have only been small differences on tomorrow’s stage and it looks like Jumbo have a reasonably strong team.
Interesting to see what happens tomorrow, both Bora and Ineos have 2 riders in contention but will need to attack quite a distance from the finish if they want to make a big enough difference. Sunweb have 2 riders top ten too but I don’t expect them to attack.

Sniffer wrote:I have 5 of your eightNo Izaguirre, Prades and Mohoric. I have Formolo, TGH and Miguel Angel Lopez instead.
Identifying the leader for a couple of teams is not easy.
I was going to pick Formolo but he was working to chase people down yesterday, so I assumed he would be working for Majka today.
I think the route suits Izagirre better than Lopez, and Izagirre has done well in Poland before.
Given what Swift said yesterday I assumed Ineos would be supporting him today.
3 transfers left for tomorrow but I guess most people will have transfers over.

Condor Andy wrote:Are you looking at the official profiles? I’m actually having a hard time seeing any intermediate sprints. There are the climbs in blue and I think the grey circles indicate the start of each climb. Can’t see a key anywhere though.Looks like I am talking crap. Mixing up GPM which represents sprints in other races with the GP they are using for the start of the climbs.

Condor Andy wrote:No combined jersey either, but a proper youth classification. Doesn’t look like they’ve made the full roadbook available yet, I’ll keep my eyes open for it.We score these intermediate sprints as normal 6-4-2 usually. If it’s true that there are up to 5 each stage then that might be overkill. I’ll have a look when it’s all finalised and see how they’re officially awarding points.
The flat stages only have one intermediate sprint and the mountain stages up to 5, looking at the stage profiles.

Gone for safe picks for today
Gone for safe picks for today.
Not sure Swift will be there at the finish but have read that he will be going for it. I’m hoping that Prades is now Movistar leader, he should be able to produce a good result in a race like this.
IZAGUIRRE I.
HIGUITA
ULISSI
MAJKA
PRADES
SWIFT
MOHORIC
LATOURPoints jersey is now up for grabs as Ackermann has pulled out, is he planning to do BinckBank ?
Bora have announced Ackermann has dropped out to allow him to do the European Championships Road Race.

Pretty unsure about who to
Pretty unsure about who to pick today.
Left some sprinters in and brought some punchier riders in.
Not sure leaving Gaviria in was a good idea, he could be working for Ulissi or even Consonni today. Possibly would have been better leaving Van Poppel in.
ACKERMANN
HIGUITA

GAVIRIA
