SRAM Force AXS XPLR hoods slipping

I’m riding a gravelbike on which a brand new SRAM Force AXS XPLR groupset has been installed by my LBS. Have been using it for 2 months and I do quite some kms.

Yesterday was the second time that I experienced slippage in the hood levers, it usually starts when hitting an obstacle or a pothole, the progressively gets worse. Firts time I thought maybe my LBS hadn’t installed them correctly, so I released the bolt 2 turns, repositioned and tightened up to the specified 6 Nm.

Yesterday it happened again, riding in very hot weather. Both hoods are affected. So I retightenend to spec but do wonder if others have experienced the issue. On the SRAM site I found a product recall but this was for a previous version.
Has anyone else experienced this? FWIW: I weigh 72 kg, handlebars are Ritchey butano (alloy) and I don’t try to physically lift off my bike by pulling on the hoods while riding.

Thanks. It’s the entire shifter. I’ll try the isopropyl and grip paste approach and come back.

Just to specify: what’s slipping, the hoods (rubber covers) or the whole shifter?

If the shifter: clean the bar thoroughly (isopropyl alcohol is great for that, you should be available as “antiseptic wipes” in any pharmacy). Then use carbon gripper paste, even if the bar is made of aluminium.

If the hoods: take them off, clean thoroughly (isopropyl again), put back on making sure that all tabs, grooves and ridges align perfectly between the rubber and the plastic body of the shifter. If they still slip, put a bit double-sided tape underneath the rubber to stabilize it against the plastic. You don’t really need much, just enough to increase stiction.
