Well, I joined about 20,000 close friends and rode across the state of Iowa last week. We got rain, and heat, and headwinds, and rain, and heat. The terrain was definitely easier overall than my LEJoG last year. Overall, in eight days (Saturday to Saturday) I did 517 miles (832 km) with 11,850 ft (3610 m) of elevation gain.

The organisers will move your camping gear for you each day, but I opted to be a “bagger” and carried everything except my chair on the bike.

A few photos in the comments.

I’ve ridden the bits of it in Illinois: about half of the Hennepin Canal trail, and most of the I&M Canal trail. I look forward to riding the whole thing when it’s completed for my 150th birthday.

Not quite sure what you are implying, do British people not share more than one photograph of their adventures? Most people I know do and it’s always interesting to see them.

    Enjoyed the pictures Andy!

Day 0, we did a bonus 56 mile

Day 0, we did a bonus 56 mile round trip for a tire dip on the western edge of the state. Mostly unloaded, our camp was already set up at this point.
