Is it possible to road cycling Curral das Freiras / Nun’s valley, Madeira?

    Hi,

    Heading to Funchal, Madeira next week & hiring a road bike for 2 days.

    I was hoping to do the Pico do Areeiro but also the Curral das Freiras / Nun’s valley.

    Looking at the gradients in & out of the valley it look pretty dangerous & I’m wondering has anyone done it on a road bike before or is it wiser just to not drop down into the valley itself?

    Have tried finding pre-existing attempts on Strava for both rides but they seem very limited / non existant.
