    A fascinating article – thank you. Interesting to see that the bikes used in the 1933 journey appear to have rod opperated drum brakes (at least on the front) and derailleur gears.

    Just got round to reading
    Just got round to reading this – very interesting. Amazing guts to head off with almost nothing but a bike and a lot of initiative.

    Sadly the racism encountered is still so relevant today.
