    Hi everyone,

I’ve been looking for a while now at gravel bikes. I feel this type of bike would suit my needs better than a mountain bike or pure road bike.

I’m not looking to spend a ton of money on one yet and have distilled a selection down to:

    Merlin Malt-G1 Tiagra Gravel Bike – 2020
    MERIDA SILEX 200 GRAVEL/CROSS BIKE 2020

I discounted Specialised as reviews and info was saying it was better for riding more smoother surfaces than rougher.

I also discounter Cannondale because of what I read in relation to a harsher ride.

I wondered if some people here could give me some advice on which bike would be the best to go for…or alternatives under £1500.

    Thank you,
    Ben

    There’s a ton around that

There’s a ton around that budget.

    Saracen Levarg

    Orange RX9

    Cotic Escapade

    Ribble CGR

    Nukeproof Digger

I’d be looking at getting the bike with the right tyres for your use case that also has hydraulic disc brakes. Ideally Tiagra-level group with an 11-34 (at least) cassette.

I love my Pinnacle Arkose, and the new ones are even better than my 2014 model.
