Just treated myself to a Genesis equilibrium mech brakes steel fork model. Going more practical n comfort that flash harry, Just a thought would this be suitable with a tyre change to go off road, off road meaning forest roads, which are pretty smooth, nothing rocky

I’ve a couple of sets of wheels, one would be dedicated to road and the other to mixed. If so what tyres would be suitable for low rolling on roads but would be able to cope with forest roads, I’ve a cracking route which covers mixed terrain

Welcome to the club! mine is an old 2011 model (purchased in a sale in 2012), with carbon forks. It only has clearance for 28mm tyres, without mudguards (25mm with) but I believe they increased the tyre clearance in later years. I’ve done a few bits of off road tracks on mine even. The frame and geometry is perfectly suited to it.

Big fan of them too and have them on another, tarmac-only bike; they are certainly the equal of the Land Cruisers for grip on tarmac, wet or dry, but the LCs have the edge in the dirt, in my opinion.

35mm Marathon Plus give astonishingly good grip even in the wet, when you wear them out so much that there’s a central blue strip made of the puncture protection round the whole circumference. I am studying how far I can push my luck

    I’ve been enjoying 35mm

I’ve been enjoying 35mm Schwalbe Land Cruisers on the commuter/light gravel bike this year, often sneered at as a budget option – and they certainly are good value – but they roll nicely on good tarmac, soak up poor road surfaces and have really good grip on rougher stuff. Not a single puncture in 14 months/7000kms either. Probably not fast enough for racers but if you’re just riding for fun well worth a look.

    Panaracer GravelKing SK in

Panaracer GravelKing SK in 38mm? I have these tubeless with Hunt 4 Seasons on a Diverge; it handles forest & gravel trails well yet nips along on tarmac without too much drag.

    YMMV, etc. of course…
