    Maria “15 minutes cities will

Maria “15 minutes cities will lead to people being fined if they go beyond their alloted area” Caulfield MP has left the conservatives, and joined the true home of nutty conspiracy theorists, Reform

And another – I think this
And another – I think this thread is going to get lengthy.

Another “religious objections to abortion” and “Brexit wasn’t enough” type, so again more in tune with the home for the hard-liners perhaps?

Depressingly, he might be the Tories best/only hope at this stage.

    How about Kemi Badenoch,
How about Kemi Badenoch, Robert Jenrick and Chris Philip after next year’s council elections?

    Boris Johnson, Jacob Rees
    Boris Johnson, Jacob Rees Mogg?
Both spectacular underachievers but will be perceived by Reform as bringing “experience” and. gravitas🤣🤣

You could add that he didn’t
You could add that he didn’t understand that what to him was a normal day at work and included starting on the spirits at 9am, looked like a piss up to everybody else.

    The problem with Boris is
The problem with Boris is that he is bone idle, has no sense of public duty and spent most of his time in office reacting to headlines in the right wing press, rather than governing. He was probably a fairly liberal conservative and europhile but abandoned these beliefs to advance his career.
Jacob Rees-Mogg was totally out of touch (trying to reintroduce imperial units in the UK is an example of this). Despite being a huge Boris sycophant, he was never given a large cabinet job . I think that tells you all you need to know about his competence. It appears that Boris even considered Nadine Dorries to be more competent (although maybe Boris saw other things in her😉).

I don’t imagine he’d be working then – he’s retired to the billiard room by then for snuff and cards.

    Another politician perhaps
Another politician perhaps showing that the most important thing about politics is power (or the potential for it).

It would be interesting to see if this chap previously said nasty things about Farage/Reform – and thus if we’ve reached the point of formation of a political black hole (like in the US around Trump). That’s where the attraction of power creates serious distortions in the fabric of space-time and people are apparently unable to escape once over the threshold…

EDIT – he did lay into their figures but it seems he’s all over the “Christian Right” taking points, radically small government so maybe fits in. (Although that clearly didn’t stop him working for Cameron and BoJo when presumably his prospects looked better in the Tories…)

Not a fan of either but I wonder what you feel Boris could have achieved if he hadn’t stalled in the lowly roles of Mayor of London and PM? Also JRM did at least make ministerial level – though to be fair he comes across like he’s been working since 1837 to get there…

Well Boris’s ambition was to be king of the world so only managing PM of the UK must be a bit of a disappointment. Still there is time for him to make a comeback so who knows!

It must sting a little to

It must sting a little to discover that someone has decided you merit no more than a mere footnote to Liz Truss.
