Also drivers: don’t do it in the summer

Chaos as six-week closure of A258 London Road in Deal sparks gridlock

“I understand the works need to be done, and I’m glad they’re doing them outside of term time because it would be even worse otherwise.”

Amityville mayor Cllr Mike Eddy said there was “frustration” over the timing of the works, and feared a massive impact on visitor numbers to events like carnival week, which is currently underway.

Clare Carpenter “It’s been an absolute nightmare. I work in Sandwich and have to plan when I leave because our road is just being used as a rat run and is gridlocked from 6am. It’s been taking more than double the time to get to work.”

Interestingly, Clare hasn’t currently got the road works between her and her work, her issue is indeed about the rat running.

Fears for safety due to dangerous parking in The Street, Hamstreet

I was drawn in by the dramatic headline, but this seems mainly to be about Morrisons deliveries.  By-pass, free car park but still problems.

Car falls victim to guided busway trap next to ‘no entry’ sign in Cambridgeshire town

I count that as 6 No Entry signs, which makes me think ‘victim’ is not the best word to use.

Yoga nearly met her demise after making plans to meet up with a friend to go partying and decided to do the trip alone. She recalls feeling “euphoric” and lost track of where she was going – and her speed.

I hope the officer at the scene performed a DrugWipe?! Or maybe not, it’s just too far fetched for even this hallucination that there might be a traffic officer about when you need one.

Rumours are that toads have been seen licking her …

Or perhaps it was all in the mind of the “journalist”?

In a Facebook post, the police team said the section of road was “notorious” and had seen “hundreds of collisions over the years”
Good! The police team have managed the first step: spotting all the vehicles that have left the road. Next, and this will require a step up, they need to work out how to prosecute people for careless driving (dangerous if somebody is KSI’d) without collapsing in tears wailing about ‘lack of resources’.

” I assumed”, is the key

” I assumed”, is the key phrase, especially when pepped-up with a “reasonably”.

    If Geoff is incapable of

If Geoff is incapable of identifying a clear demarcation between parking zones when stationary and on foot, one wonders just how good he will be at identifying, interpreting and complying with signage when travelling at 30mph.

Sounds like Geoff (80) has been parking in residents only parking for years; gets a ticket, gets it cancelled, but it’s still not enough for him.

Man warns motorists over Westgate parking after being ‘caught out’ by permit line

The County Council will be installing new signage at the site

Geoff felt the line and the signage were not clear. Just a few yards away from his vehicle, there was a sign stating free parking for one hour. He said, “I assumed quite reasonably that it applied to that whole row as the nearest houses were 30 yards away.”

Streetview is12 years old, but the street signs look pretty clear to me, even if the surface line has faded now.  Shame there wasn’t room to print the pictures he took.

Yoga surely got the idea of Archangel Raphael from watching the Blues Brothers?
But on a serious note, if cyclists put out similar stories of motorists who had briefly flirted with Hell after making a close pass, it could have a beneficial effect.
