This was an eye-catching headline. I have no information over whether the cyclist was known to the driver, or anything like that, but it seems that the driver allegedly used their car as a weapon following an alteraction.

I offer two other nuggets of information:

-this occured on Barkerend Road, which has a two way segregated cycle lane (the notorious Cycling Superhighway, which has many decent bits and a huge number of avoidable design flaws)

-Barkerend Road also happens to be the place where a taxi driver turned into a side road, despite being ‘blinded by the sun’, killing a cyclist. For this, he recieved only a suspended prison sentence and 80 hours community work. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c6298g40w0zo

    No wonder there’s a backlog
No wonder there’s a backlog with things like this being taken to court. I hope you get there eventually and whoever is responsible takes some heat for pursuing it. I hope the judge asks the police how they thought pursuing this case would benefit the public and what relationship they have with the ‘victim’ of the swear word.

I await the slow decisions of the courts service/CPS. No resolution. It appears that the CPS/Police want to take this forward, but the backlog in the courts service is preventing any result in the next 6 months.
