I know what the manufacturers say but what is the real situation on the maximum sprocket size for an Ultegra 8050 short cage rear derailleur?  I am hoping to run a single ring with a 32 tooth sprocket, has anyone tried this in the real world?

I have a 2016 Dura Ace short

I have a 2016 Dura Ace short cage mech which works fine with a 32 tooth cassette.  Shimano is indeed conservative, and state that the design of the dropout can the maximum cassette size.

Not done this particular model but it should work.  Spend a couple of quid on ebay to get a longer B-screw as a continency.   Shimano are known for being conservative in this area.
