Hi,

I’ve got a set of Campag wheels with CULT bearings that are in need of a service.

In these hubs, there are ceramic balls running inside hardened stainless cups and cones with an oil film, rather than the usual grease: https://www.campagnolo.com/WW/en/CampyWorld/Products/focus_on_cult_bearings

The question is which oil should I use when I reassemble the hubs? Campag website only gives some specs on fully synthetic oil and I never heard anything back when I tried emailing them.

What does everyone else use?

I’ve always used a very light

I’ve always used a very light grease on mine. Currently using a tub of Silkolene Pro RG2 synthetic grease that is beautiful stuff and will probably last a lifetime – and cost less than a tenner.

I have Ceramic Speed hybrid

I have Ceramic Speed hybrid BB bearings on my Tarmac. CS makes an all around grease for all bearings whether it be hub or BB. Low to medium viscosity and reduces friction. However, it’s for dry and sunny weather coditions.

Any thin oil should do, I think. Not that I’m posh enough to own any wheels with CULT hubs, lol. But they are just bicycle wheels and it’s not an exacting environment for lubricants either in terms of load or RPM.
