Hi guys, does anyone know if Campagnolo and Fulcrum use the same hubs/components on similar spec. wheels. I know they are from the same company. Essentially been looking at Fulcrum racing 4 c17 35mm and Campagnolo scirocco c17 35mm rim brake. Only difference I can really make out is the G3 spoke pattern on the Campags. Also does anyone have any experience with the G3 pattern. Pros/cons etc.

Yepp, I had the same

Yepp, I had the same experience with the Zondas, well built wheels but they did make the ride seem very harsh.  I won’t buy them again for UK roads but perhaps if I lived abroad with some decent tarmac I might be tempted again.  I would have to go 28s and lower pressure though. My Fulcrum (carbon) Quattros are fantastic but they did cost an arm and a leg.

Triplet lacing, or G3 as

Triplet lacing, or G3 as Campagnolo call it, is a much better lacig pattern to use on the rear wheels. Due to the bracing angles on the rear being imbalanced by the cassette and freehub, on a normally laced rear wheel the tensions on the drive side spokes are roughly double those on the non-drive side (with some slight variation depending on the exact hub design). With Triplet / G3 lacing, halving the number of spokes on the non-drive side means you can have evenly tensioned spokes on both sides of the wheel, which in the long run should mean they stay truer for longer. 

Plus they look pimp.

They are made in the same

They are made in the same factory, by the same people, using very similar parts. I use Fulcrum Wind 55 dBs on my XR4, they are every bit as good as the Campagnolo stickered equivalents.

I have a pair of Campag
I have a pair of Campag Zondas and Fulcrum 3’s. The spoke lacing is different and the Zondas do feel stiffer making them ,for me, a bit hard riding on poor road surfaces. Also I didn’t think the finish was as good on the Zondas.Overall I prefer the Fulcrums.

They’re use very similar

They’re use very similar designs, the consumables like bearings etc are interchangeable. Fulcrum uses the G3 lacing just spaced wider at the rim so not parallel like campagnolo wheels.
 

I’ve ridden campagnolo wheels for donkeys years over multiple wheelsets, never had a problem with any of them. Pretty much the only wheel brand I’ll ever buy again
