I’m in the process of building a 3t Strada  prob frame set up and wondering if the rear derailleur and hydraulic hose should go under the bottom bracket/spindle area or over the top? There isn’t any external cable guides and there doesn’t appear to be any guide inside the frame. Thanks in advance

Hey Up. I’ve got a 3T Strada.

Hey Up. I’ve got a 3T Strada. I run a mechanical disc rear brake and gen1 Etap.  As I remember I ran the cable over the top of the BB -the downtube is pretty massive so there’s lots of space to run it into the chainstay. the rear brake actually works fine even with the crazy cable routing. Because of the tube size there’s a bit of leeway with how long you make the cable outer…so you can push it into the frame until it looks tidy. As long as your cable outer is compressionless and not dirty it will shift just fine.

Thanks , yeah as the rear derailleur cable has cable housing all the way through the frame to the rear derailleur i guess if it fits over or under it shouldn’t make much difference as the friction shouldn’t be an issue.

As it’s a push-fit BB I’m not
As it’s a push-fit BB I’m not going to take my BB out to check, but looking from the outside, the most direct route seems to be over the top of the BB shell. It looks like there is sufficient space but can’t say for sure. The bottom bracket area is pretty meaty.

I haven’t had problems with shifting but it’s very much a fair weather bike for me. It’s great fun to ride so I hope you enjoy it.

You’re going to have trouble

You’re going to have trouble with mechanical shifting on that frame no matter what you do, it’s got the cable entry on the top tube right? So the cable has to go round the head tube junction to reach the down tube putting unwanted friction on the system. Your best bet is to get as much cable liner in there as possible and run it under the spindle, the liner will move when shifting so try to get it from entry to exit and avoid rubbing the cable through the frame. Welcome to the bullshit world of Vroomen design, a man who realised he didn’t have to tr to produce good products when paying off journos for good reviews is much easier

I haven’t built a 3T Strada

I haven’t built a 3T Strada but have done a couple of other disc frames. On both the gear and brake hose routing was underneath the spindle.
