He’s in the motor insurance industry and posts very good explanatory videos detailing responsibility and insurance liability for car crashes. This one from yesterday – a video of a cyclist being hit by a driver pulling out of a side road without paying attention – includes a bonus takedown of all the ‘Cyclists need insurance and should pay road tax’ tripe that usually accompanies such videos 😁

Yeah, I’ve seen a few of his videos. He explains things in a way that’s easy to follow, and it’s nice that he sticks to what the law actually says instead of all the usual myths. The insurance and road tax arguments always come up, so it’s good to see someone address them with facts instead of just arguing in the comments.

Follow him and have occaisionally made comments suggesting subjects for Posts (eg use of fog lights) – which he’s addressed. The man talks a great deal of sense, particulalrly interesting is his insight into how insurers analyse accidents – very much about root cause and not necessarily about which party may, or may not have been following the law (usually speeding). The later, he points out, is a matter for the police not the insurance industry.

As someone else commented, the insurance industry can take a simplistic view sometimes. I’ve had claims split 50/50 where one party was to blame. In one of his recent examples a driver clearly indicating (3rd party video) & following the lane markings was hit by another vechicle doing neither; insurers say 50/50.

I don’t follow him as such but his feed does pop up on my Instagram profile. he’s pretty good on explaining crashes involving cyclists (and motorcyclists).
