A proposed bike lift going up Park St in Bristol: https://www.bristol247.com/news-and-features/news/cycle-lift-proposed-park-street-bristol/

I’m not sure how it deals with side roads though.

    It’s a great little thing –

It’s a great little thing – looks quite bonkers to have used – worth trying to have a butchers if they open it up again in the future (only been partially opened a couple of times recently that I recall).

I remember the old tram tracks that still poked out here and there when I was younger, e.g. at the bottom of the hill at Clifton Down. Right bugger we lost all of that.

    It was featured on Yesterday

It was featured on Yesterday’s Archetecture of the Railways series.

The omnibus was on over the weekend.

    Shortly after the monorail!

I think they should build at least one funicular.

Fun-ic-u-lar – it’s one of my favourite words.

Edit: We used to have one: https://www.cliftonrocksrailway.org.uk/

For some reason, you don’t see a lot of people using Vale St.

The issue raised is that the lifts in trenchard street *do* work but that you can only access them if you have a car park ticket. Even though its a council owned (ie. publicly owned) multi storey car park, you can only use the lifts if you’re a ‘customer’.

No way will some alpine ski lift affair get built up park street. Ever.

    If they’re still working that

If they’re still working that that’s not a bad idea… I can’t see the lift up Park Street happening either way.

i notice the comments on that

i notice the comments on that site saying why not just reopen trenchard street car park lifts to the general public, to go from trenchard street up to park row? Seems a bit less complicated and less like a lawsuit waiting to happen…
