Hi
Normally I shrug off close passes and get on with my day but an incident last night left me pretty shaken up.
Riding on the road with a shared use path alongside a driver passed blasting his horn and shouting’use the bike path’.
He then stopped in the middle of the lane and waited. I waited 50m back not wanting to get in front of him. This standoff continued for 5 mins until he pulled over and got out to confront me. Called me a c*** for holding him up, wasting tax payers money on bike paths, not paying road tax etc… then got back in his car and continued to wait.
After another 5 mins I got fed up and cycled on (I know this was stupid, should have gone on the path or turned around). He followed and then did a really aggressive close pass which I caught on my phone video.
I didn’t realise but he then waited a mile up the road and again close passed me, this time throwing something at me which hit me on the arm.
Has anyone got advice on reporting? I live in Norfolk. I was going to report as a traffic incident but there is an option to report aggressive behaviour, however this opens a criminal case. Should I go down the traffic incident route or the aggressive behaviour route?
Thanks
