Di2 rattle, buzzing noise

    Just recently got a new bike with di2 and it makes the most annoying buzzing, rattle sound coming from the shifters, is this normal or should it be quiet? I’ve uploaded a rubbish video of the buzzing in action to YouTube http://youtu.be/Bya6DqhsaK0

    I’m really surprised you don’t hear more about this issue and most people just tolerate it, it’s put me off ever having di2 on a bike again, I’ll just stick with mechanical next time, shimano should explain themselves why it rattles, buzzes, vibrates, or maybe they can explain to trading standards?

    I’d really like a reply from them regarding this considering the price, it’s a brand new bike, I’ve already had one right hand shifter replaced, then I’m forced to wait 3 weeks and be without my bike if I want the shifter inspected off them, it’s disgraceful service.

    I have di2 and have also
    I have di2 and have also noticed the same problem. There’s three separate paddles on each shifter and I think shimano hasn’t realized that once you start using them, you’re going to get some movement and play in them. Hence the rattle. Bloody annoying I agree!

    If it’s not supposed to rattle then the rattle could be symptomatic of a deeper problem.

    How recently is recent?

    Reject the bike as not fit for purpose and ask for your money back.

    It’s coming from the right
    It’s coming from the right shifter, everything else is fine, not happy but have been told I’ve got to wait 3 weeks to send away to shimano and be without my bike, not impressed with my lbs stance on this or madison.co.uk no reply or help from the supplier at all. The noise goes away completely when you grip the hoods or have your fingers on the shifter.

    Checked other brands if bike in the shop and they all rattle the same when you tap the handle bars or drops, seriously annoying design flaw that should be recalled and fixed

    Should definitely be quiet –
    Should definitely be quiet – mine is silent

    Is it from the electrical motor/unit or is it chain rattle/hum. It only takes a small knock.

    I had some some buzz after the hanger got moved slightly when the wind blew the bike over but having had that reset we’re back to silent cycling – get it checked out, don’t put up with it

    I think it’s supposed to be
    I think it’s supposed to be quiet, I read an article the other day saying how quiet it was and new ones where having noise built in for those that wanted noise, the obvious thing to say is go back where you bought it, chat to them.
