Replacement Brake Pads

    Hi,

    Is there anyone out there who can tell me which brake pads are required on my road bike? I have a Trek Pilot 2.1. The brakes are not labeled as Shimano, but the drive train is Shimano 105. Rims are Bontrager SSR alu. I put a tape measure up to the brake shoe and it appears to be about 52mm. Short of taking the existing pad out and then to a shop, is there any other way?

    Installed fairly easily but
    Installed fairly easily but found I had to slide it in and out a few times and then really push it so that it was flush with end of brake block. Also, the brake cable needed to be re-adjusted and moved a bit to accommodate the new pad.

    I can’t wait till my Swiss
    I can’t wait till my Swiss stop green come, my bike is s cannondale luiqigas green, I have added green ends to my brake wires the green brake blocks well finish it off lol

    also I have never changed brake blocks, let me know if it was easy please.

    Not a lot wrong with Aztec brake pads in my experience and very reasonably priced too.

    Thank you, very much! It’s not something I want to pay a shop to fit as it looks to be fairly easy to do on my own. I have a stand, a screwdriver and pliers if necessary.

    I presume you have cartridge
    I presume you have cartridge style brakes? (As in there’s a metal holder that contains the brake pad and you just replace the pad rather than the actual pad being bolted to the brake)

    If so, they’re almost certainly Shimano fit so look for pads that are described as such. Personally I’d recommend SwissStop Green pads. They’re not cheap, but they make a huge difference to the braking, especially in the wet.
