I need to replace my cycling shoes and I have big feet. This is an issue.
I’m currently wearing a pair of (long since) white Shimano RO86 road shoes which have served me well for the last 3 or so years but now really need replacing and I’d really quite like an upgrade too.
With my size 13/14 feet, shopping for shoes is difficult and annoying at the best of times. Obviously, bricks and mortar shops don’t keep large sizes in stock and most only shops won’t stock them either. The ones that do rarely have ‘search by size’ facilities on their websites and I end up endlessly clicking through pages of shoes looking to see if any go up to an EU49 or 50 and if they do, do the reviews say ‘You should probably buy a size bigger as these come up small’.
I very quickly reach the end of my tether and end up with a shortlist of shoes that, whilst available in my size, aren’t really setting my heart on fire (like these Louis Garneau ones – http://www.evanscycles.com/products/louis-garneau/revo-xr3-road-shoe-ec029811 – Nice but they don’t really make me feel tingly with excitement).
So I turn to you, the oracles of cycling, to help me discover a new pair of road shoes.
Here’s my spec:
- Budget: Upto £140 (would consider going slightly higher but only because I’m wasting time/money for every minute I spend shopping).
- Size: UK 13/14, EU49/50 (depending on whether they ‘come up small’.
- Color: Preferably black. I’ve had enough of white shoes
- And they need to look nice. That can be an understated, plain black, classy nice, or a kind of blingy, ‘look at me’ nice.
If anyone can point me in the direction of that pair of shoes, I’ll be very grateful.
