Carbon Fork Advice

    Cleaning my bike yesterday I noticed that the paint has flaked away from the bottom of one of my fork legs, around the lug exposing the carbon fibre. Would it be wise to cover the exposed carbon up with paint or nail varnish or is it nothing to worry about? If it is paint which one and does it need a primer?

    To touch up a little bit if its just flaked off, should be ok with nail polish or car touch up paint. As long as you don’t go using anything corrosive on it, So nothing like nitromors to take any paint of or anything.

    The carbon should still be sealed under the paint, so nothing can get through. Its like painting onto of a varnish. It would hold very well and you’ll most likely have to keep touching it up every now and again.

    Its Specialized FACT carbon
    Its Specialized FACT carbon off of an Allez Sport. I don’t think its the lacquer as it was more like the white paint and it has exposed something off white, i am assuming this is the actual carbon legs. As for the paint thing i had heard that certain paints, somewhere can’t think where, could break the adhesive/resin down hence the asking. I don’t think its the right time to be shelling out on new forks.

    Is it actual paint or just a lacquer above the carbon?

    Paint can be harmful to carbon, so I would advise against just putting anything on there.
