    Hi all,

I commute to work all year round, and this is my first year where i wont have a mountain bike for the winter months, therefore was looking for some advice.

I am looking for a good pair of winter tyres for my road bike, any suggestions?

    Many thanks,

    Rob.

    Gatorskins here no doubt ..

I brought a set a few years back when commuting heavily …
I couldnae believe it when I punctured with 3 days but I never had another puncture in over two years … on pretty rough n ropey routes.. (Inner city Wolverhampton – Not nice)

They’re still on my commuter now, that bike is rarely used these days though ..

    I run a pair of 25s or a 23
I run a pair of 25s or a 23 on the front and a 25 on the back. I carry a pannier for my commute hence the 25 to try to protect the rear wheel.

    I run 25mm Conti 4 Seasons
I run 25mm Conti 4 Seasons all year round. They might seem expensive at first, but I got 5 years / 3500 miles out of the rear one, and the front is still OK (now on the back and a new one on the front)

    I use Conti Gatorskins.
I use Conti Gatorskins. Touch wood and famous last words, but they have been the best puncture protection I have found and decent wet grip. The only downside is that they don’t roll that well – I reckon they are between 5 and 10s a km slower than my summer tyres.

Would be interested to hear other peoples thoughts though.

    Andy
