Recommend a micro video camera

    Hi looking for one of the mini DVR cams. Had horrendous experiences with car drivers this last 5 days and now feel it might be worth keeping a digital watch over my cycling. I have been dismissive of doing this but starting to feel I have little choice.

    Have found a couple but with not much info. Small as possible and run continuously. Maybe going back to start and overwriting recording if not stopped.

    I’ve been using an Iphone case that I strap to my rucksack I’ve not had any problems like yours but in fact this maybe a good option as it’s fairly discreet – got it from http://www.productx.co.uk/ only £25.

    Cheers folks – GoPro not the sort of thing I want. Something tiddly to mount on helmet and not be obvious. If I ever got in a stand up face to face (and so far in 26 years that’s only happened when I’ve actually been lying on the ground) I would NEVER admit to recording events. Too many kn**s likely to attack you.

    Thanks I’ll have a look at the others cams mentioned.

    I have a Contour HD –
    I have a Contour HD – purchased for same reason( have a number of saved clips of near misses ) – does well.I have a 16 MB card and this will record approx 5hrs of riding – I have lowered the rec quality from HI to LO to increase duration of recording. Battery lasts two and a half hours ish so on club rides I change it at tea stop. When on long solo rides the unit gives a bleep when battery is exausted.
    Real problem is it is not waterproof and those alternatives that I know about that are, do not have the battery life or the batteries are not changeable.
    Whoever markets a small, easily mountable, aerodynamic, waterproof,with long duration memory and battery will clean up.

    I have a ContourHD. I haven’t done a whole lot of filming outdoors with it, but have done a fair amount of track racing/training with it. Check out Youtube, search for ILT Velodrome or JediTimbob and you can see some of my footage. 😀

    I have a GoPro Hero 2 and
    I have a GoPro Hero 2 and it’s fantastic. I’ve heard the Contour Roams are pretty good too but guess it depends what shape you want. The GoPro fits really neatly on my bag strap so is pretty unobtrusive.

    Can’t go wrong with a GoPro
    Can’t go wrong with a GoPro Hero.

    TBH, anything that’s not HD, and it will fail you when you really, REALLY need it, like when looking at number plates.

    Thing is, the pwople you need to film are the kind of people who keep axes in their cars.

    Just be careful yeah, having a camera doesn’t make you invincible or nuffing.
