Agreed. Plus there’s a difference between jumping a red at a pedestrian crossing when there’s clearly nothing coming, and going straight over a crossroads blind. Here in Cambridge they are talking about giving CSOs the authority to spot-fine cyclists for jumping red lights, but it would just be too easy for them to abuse it.

Jumping can actually make life for everyone (including the cyclist) safer especially when turning left. Risk £40 or get squashed by a lorry … 😕
