Thinking of buying a turbo as I’m currently training for an epic charity ride (just under 400 miles in 4 days) and I can’t always get out on the road just now with work.

    any thought on this product

    or maybe this one

The other question I have is.. do I need to get a training tyre? How quickly would my normal tyre wear out on the trainer versus proper tarmac?

A lot of people say you don’t need a training tyre but I bought one (and a “cheap” spare wheel & cassette) after my road tyre wore thin on the trainer. I just swap it in and out when I need it.

I have a Kinetik trainer which is very heavy duty and I’m happy with it but if I buy another I’d get the Kinetik one that moves from side to side so your core muscles get exersised as well as your legs.

Definitely get a sweat catcher or your bike will be drenched.

The tyres will probably be fine, just be sure to get a good roller, not sure if Elastogel or Metal ones are better for wear.

Its a well known fact that time on the turbo is equal to double time on the road, not sure about tyres though.
