    Hi All,
I bought a set of wheels today (second hand) and they are fitted with new (seem to have no or very little wear) Schwalbe Stelvio 700X23 tyres fitted and new tubes.
My question is – does anyone have any experiences with these tyres, good or bad? They look OK and state they are double compound on the side walls, kind of greyish and black. Don’t know much about these, may get my usual GP4000s’s but may give these a go.
    Anyone???

    Regards

    Trikeman. 😉

    I’ve got a set of 700×19’s
I’ve got a set of 700×19’s and they seem fine, quick rolling, good grip, like to be pumped up – HARD. Oh yes, they are ridiculously cheap on the Planet X site.

    All good advice lads. Just
All good advice lads. Just gave them a ride this morning, bit cold and wet but the tyres seem OK. Didn’t try any heroics though. :O Just too cold for sliding on my hands.
Will report back once I get a few miles on them.
    Regards

    Considered a good training
Considered a good training tyre (not full-on race tyre like Ultremo, Pro 3), replaced in the Schwalbe lineup by very similar Durano / Durano S, which also get lots of positive reviews. I’d say unless you have a problem just use them and replace with your preferred tyre when they wear out.

Seem to offer better grip in
Seem to offer better grip in the wet that Vittoria Rubino Pros I’ve got and probably better puncture resistance (at least in my experience). The Contis are a better tyre all round for riding but they are known to sometimes fail at the sidewall (google it). I really like the Stelvios as a training tyre.

I’ve used ’em on a few test
I’ve used ’em on a few test bikes over the years. they’re decent enough tyres, not my faves but well behaved and fairly hardy. certainly worth keeping.
