Bicycle advocates are criticizing the US federal transportation bill amounting to USD 260bn (EUR 198.10bn), stating that the burden of such financing cannot be placed on states’ shoulders, given the financial status. Legislators will determine whether or not a provision requiring states to provide 3% of highway funds to construct trails for pedestrians and cyclists should be eliminated. Most of the criticisms are directed at the US Transportation Secretary, Ray LaHood.
