SRAM/Shimano compatibility /

Does anyone know if SRAM shifters/brake levers are compatible with Shimano rear/front mechs. reason i ask is that my shimano levers need replacing and i fancied trying the SRAM double tap business..its a 9 speed ultegra cassette/double chainring set up.

Not sure if they will work
Not sure if they will work because if Sram road shifters are the same as their mountain bike shifters they pull a different amount of cable to Shimano.
