    Can anyone recommend some really good cycling DVD’s? And has anyone seen “Chasing Legends” What do you think of the DVD film?

    death on a mountain very good documentary saw it on bbc4 last year.good interviews with his teammates and competitors. he really was loved by the french people

    From the Merck era-A Sunday in Hell (Roubaix) & The greatest show in the world (Giro) are both fantastic, well worth checking out. Pretty sure both are up on YouTube too.
    The recent Swiss film about Koblet is worth a view.

    What struck me was the essence of the race is exactly the same. It’s a 50 year old film, yes they wear no helmets and carry glass bottles in their jersey pockets (!) but the faces on the sides of the road, the enthusiasm, the buzz is almost identical.

    It’s a remarkable piece of film and like you would recommend everyone watch it – at least 10 times…

    Just looked up 1962 TDF on Wikipeia (welcome back) after watching that, just shows you how much TDF has changed – not many pure mountain stages, but 3 weeks, no rest days, couple of days where road stage followed by time trial on same day (one of them 147km of each, latter a TTT), race length 4,274km. Of that, 500km on the last 2 days alone, with longest stage of race the 271km run into Paris on the final day.

    Mental.

    Thoroughly recommend everyone watches that, 19 minutes well spent.

    Hell on Wheels from 2003 is
    Hell on Wheels from 2003 is pretty good, as is the previously mentioned Chasing Legends.
