Saw this in the NY Times - interesting: In 2011, an increment of 8% in number of regular city bicycle riders was reported in New York of the US. The number of daily riders in six areas increased from 2010's 17,491 to 18,846 during the year.

Yes indeed, lots of cycle
Yes indeed, lots of cycle hire places in NYC. Probably best to check online. There are some NYC dwellers on this website who might even jump in and suggest a place.

Anyone know if possible to
Anyone know if possible to hire a road bike in NYC for the day?

We’re thinking of taking a long weekend there next year and I thought that it might be a good idea, rather than following the missus around the shops one day, to check things out on two wheels.
