Well done Fringe The 100
Well done Fringe 🙂 The 100 mile route was excellent and you are right, both me & my bike looked like we had done a cross race!! The weather for the 1st 50 miles was awful, rain, gusts and fog. Then as if by magic glorious Sunshine and everybody started over-heating!! A great event,I’ll be back again next year. The drive back to Manchester today was a painful one 🙂SideBurn
Wanted to do it but could not
Wanted to do it but could not get the day off. My son arranged to do the 100mile with a friend…who pulled out at the last minute. He was pretty p****d off as he wanted to do the 100k. He finished, just, some riders from south devon took pity on him on his own and he rode with them, cheers whoever you were. The Paramedic based a Lynton had his busiest day ever! A few casualties ended up in Barnstaple hospital but nothing serious, that I heard of. Exmoor is superb, hilly but worth it; I spend as much time up there as possible. On road off road just as good…next year I will do the Beast!CaptJack

did the 100miler despite trying to talk myself out of it, this was in the first two hours which was very wet and windy. glad i did now as it was a good course, plenty of hills (and even some i recognized).you could tell near the end who had done the 100miler as they were covered in mud as one 100 meter section of road was cm deep in the stuff thanks to a one Mr. Farmer. nice.
heres a pic of the 7.00am start.

Mudguards are a must & winter training bike perfect, I’m going on my nice heavy steel steed :)ta for that, i reckon i prob will plump for the 100m seeing as ive paid for it..and having done a few audax’s round exmoor and looking at the ‘beast’ map it does seem like the extra miles on the 100m are just a diversion on the rolling roads south of exmoor itself..
better go make some extra flapjacks. 😀
