Got to say, I’ve always taken lock ratings with a pinch of salt, particularly after talking to one manufacturer who explained when we broke his top rated lock in seconds that it was designed to the pass the rating test. He didn’t seem surprised we’d broken it because his lock wasn’t designed to pass our test.

I’ve got an old but
I’ve got an old but functional banger for commuting and a good bike for serious riding. I can leave the banger locked up in town knowing that because it’s old and dirty, it’s far less likely to attract the attentions of a thief. I deliberately lock it up next to the shiniest new bikes when I leave it to divert attention in fact. Spraying your bike with WD will mean it’ll pick up dirt and look very grubby quickly. Thieves seem to prefer shiny new looking bikes as I’ve learned through experience.
