First man to win Olympic gold
First man to win Olympic gold while wearing the rainbow jersey? Also, if you want the whole team to get rainbow jerseys and medals why not give all of BMC a yellow jersey for helping Evans win the TdF or all of Geox red jerseys for helping Cobo win the Vuelta? The winner is the guy who gets the jersey and that’s fair, GB didn’t have to work all day for Cav, they chose to as it was their best chance to win, the riders chose a course of action that meant only one of them could win.

I definitely think the whole
I definitely think the whole team should get medals, or at least all of the finishers. Otherwise it’s like only giving medals to the goal scorers in the world cup final.Anyway looking forward to seeing Cav breaking the record for most wins in the rainbow jersey in a season. Touch wood! 😀

Got to day fluffchucker for
Got to day fluffchucker for half a second or so there today I thought that day had come… but then maybe he is so good at judging the distance and what needs to be done that he knew he couldn’t be caught whatever.drheaton

The world champion is the world champion and is recognised as such, the team will get plenty of satisfaction from a job well done.

I couldn’t agree with
@Gkam84
I couldn’t agree with you more.
When do Wiggins, Thomas, Stannard, Hunt, Froome, Cummings, Millar get their chance of being a World Champion. They worked their nuts off & gave their all. I know they all work as a team & for one guy, just a shame they don’t have anything to show for all their effort. Nevertheless, although Cav wasn’t highlighted during the commentary, he still had to go the distance withe the rest of the team & kick in the afterburner when it mattered. Just wish he’d put his arms up when he goes over the line sometimes, one day & nearly today, he’ll cock up & loose by a 1/2 wheel.
At least he won’t have his bottom lip out for next season.
Like him or loath him, who wouldn’t want to swap places with him, me for oneGkam84
37 for me and i DO care cause
37 for me and i DO care cause i would have rather had Millar win or Wiggo or Froome or anyone else from the UK over CavYes, he does always say thank you to whatever team helps in, but he gets ALL the headlines and credit for winning, when all he does is follow behind a team who do all the work
Not that i’m at all against Cav, i would have just liked to see an all rounder winning the rainbow, like looking at this season, How many times did Hushovd get in breaks and get exposure, where as Cav will only been seen in the final few KM or when he gets dropped on a climb 🙁

Hey i’m glad the UK won it in
Hey i’m glad the UK won it in the end and all credit to him for doing it and getting through after being blocked out and stuffIts just a shame that all the riders from the team don’t get the rainbows or some sort of badge to wear, a bit like ex world champs can wear it on their sleeves, the rest of the GB team today should get to wear something to mark out that it was a team effort and not just one guy at the end 😀 😀

yeah but that’s his job
yeah but that’s his job Gkam84 – it’s not his fault he gets the headlines – that’s down to the simply ways of us media types. I think it’s clear he knows well enough that he may be a missile but he’s only the tip and every missile needs some sort of delivery system. You also have to give him credit for finding his way through those last few 100 metres on his own cos he didn’t really have a lead out. The to keep on doing that that so many times given the explosive nature of the sprint at that point, and the fact that he’s spent 6-8 hours in the saddle is a pretty special ability. It’s also got to be said that his peers obviously don’t begrudge him his wins.

I am really sorry if I ruined
I am really sorry if I ruined anyone’s team by telling them Cav couldn’t sprint up that hill, I did crap (37) but what a great result 😀Squiggle

Anders LUNDexpecting bunch finish, with Gilbert to attack with 1km to go.
Galimzyanov & Kittel a bit of reach/risk with the distance and uphill finish.
Not worried about Koren and his finish in Paris on the Tour.
Lund did well in Toronto & Quebec
