    Who are your favourite riders?

    Currently I am enjoying watching 3 riders in the GC of the TDF.

    Tommy V for his fighting spirit.

    Philipe Gilbert for just being prepared to ‘give it go’ whenever the mood takes him (I always enjoy his attacking style).

    The curveball has to be Cadel for me. Usually I can’t stand his moaning and whinging but he seems to be fighting and gritting his teeth a tad more this time.

    Did anyone else see David
    Did anyone else see David Millar’s tweet about Tommy V after the time trial? Anyone know anything about that? Apparently Garmin’s cars passed him on the road, still cycling, looking broken. Which would be a shame, because I would like to think of him as a poor loser.

    Anyway, Hoogerland and Hushovd, love ’em both. Have loved Hushovd for years, so much so that if my daughter had been a soon her middle name would’ve been Thor. And I liked Hoogerland since the Giro, with his Roy style constant attacks. I like Roy too. Because of his hoogerland style constant attacks.

    I really wanted hooergerland
    I really wanted hooergerland to win the KoM the way he kept fighting after almost dying from the fence
    I still really wanted voeckler to win the tour though.

    Fav riders of the tour this year for me have been

    Hoogerland
    Roy
    Voeckler

    And one guy that i dont think is getting enough credit for his riding Pierre Rolland, if Voeckler didn’t have him, i dont think he would be in yellow now because the gaps would have been less before todays stage

    Well done Tommy V. Still retaining the MJ. It has to be something to do with that tongue….lol. Looks like a real nice guy up on the podium, seems sincere. Hope he keeps on keeping on….good work by Andy Schleck on today’s stage too. Most exciting thing he’s done so far this Tour.

    I’d really like Voeckler to
    I’d really like Voeckler to win, he was attacking from the outset and I like his esprit. Personality wise I enjoy the interviews with Millar and Voigt. Voigt for entertainment and Millar because he talks like a real person with intelligence and not a sports robot.

    Which one of the Schlecks was complaining that a race shouldn’t be decided on a downhill? Why not? Maybe they should have a King of the Descents jumper and he wouldn’t complain.

    Just been asked to fly out to Canada for work for a few days and, irony of ironies, I have to transfer in Paris on sunday afternoon. The temptation to somehow ‘miss’ the flight and skive off to the champs elysee is great..

    Roy – You have to admire someone who has ridden so many kms on breakaways

    Hoogerland and Flecha – Both have real steel to get back on their bikes and continue after what that idiot in the media car did.

    Agree with all of the above,
    Agree with all of the above, this from someone who has the Schlecks in their Fantasy Cyling team, but they have been a bit uninspiring so far.
    I too have a problem with Evans and I’m not sure why. Would love to see Tommy V win, I know he won’t but can dream, would even prefer Bertie to win over Cadel. Sorry!

    Voeckler … for all the
    Voeckler … for all the reasons people have mentioned above.

    Thor … for his almost heroic defence of the MJ and then the stage win

    Gilbert … for just going for it every time he can

    Hoogerland … attack, attack, attack, get tossed into a fence, get 33 stitches, attack, attack …

    In fact, I’ve enjoyed the most of ones in recent years and that is all because of people outside the top GC contenders.
    The GC contender set has largely disappointed me. So far.

    Has to be Tommy V, he’s been fantastic all year. It would be great for cycling if he can remain in a podium position. All cycling fans would be happy, especially the French.
    Thor, Edvald, and Jeremy Roy have been great also, and Vandenert.
    Its getting harder and harder to like the Schlecks on the other hand.

    Agree with all of that. Tommy V has it for me, what a legend. Someone pointed out the other day: look at his bars. No power meter, not even a speedo. He just goes. I wouldn’t back him to stay in yellow today but there’s no-one who’ll try harder.

    Jonny Hoogerland is pretty nails too, still going off the front even with 33 stitches in his legs.

    Contador was looking pretty ordinary in the first week but he’s been excellent value in the last few days. Sanchez too, those boys have really taken the fight to Evans. I’ve been impressed with Evans but he’s not exactly exciting… then again, he’s had no need to be thus far.

    Gilbert and EBH have been good value, also Jeremy Roy. Hushovd is frighteningly good. Cav is basically unbeatable.

    Schlecks? It must be hard to point yourself own a massive hill at breakneck speed when one of your teammates died earlier in the year doing exactly that. But at the end of the day that’s one of the required skills to win the tour. It’s part of racing; If you can’t do it so well, it’s no use whining. the conditions are the same for everyone.

    Tommy is the man this year if
    Tommy is the man this year if you ask me – I love the way he came down that lunatic descent yesterday. He’s all heart (and tongue) and I really hope some kind of miracle keeps him in the lead after the coming two days (yeah I know…it ain’t going to happen, but wouldn’t it be great if it did?)

    I also really enjoyed watching Contador yesterday. If he puts in that kind of effort today and tomorrow, who knows what might be possible?

    Thor and Cav are clearly heroes that only some kind of weirdo wouldn’t like – and EBH is very watchable too. He looks like a future winner to me.

    The Schlecks are leaving me a bit cold this year – too strategic, although you can’t argue with the way they reeled in Contador and Sanchez yesterday. And I don’t like Evans either – can’t explain why really…he’s clearly a great rider, just doesn’t light my fire for some reason.
