    Looks like it would be an amazing bike to get back to full glory. On restoring the chrome check out this link [url]http://www.lfgss.com/thread4900.html[/url] that shows an old chrome bmx frame being restored. It can be done but its a lot of hard work and you have to LOVE the bike. No offence but if you let it get in that state are you really of a mind to spend hours polishing it?
    I’d suggest you sell it on ebay – must still be worth 400+

    Doesn’t look as bad as some i’ve seen and worked on, see if you can find a re-chromer locally and then get advice and do all the prep yourself

    What kinda nick is the groupset in? is it serviceable? If not i wouldn’t bother with it and stick it on ebay, bikes for restoration seem to be making a bit of money lately, been watching for a couple of older ones to chop for a bike i’m building, but the keep going for silly money
