Dave – the game site’s looking better and better by the day. You must be nearing the top of that curve (unless it turns out to be a faux plateau) =D>

I don’t know how you’d feel about this but what about a link to the cqranking as an extra button for each rider? (just in case you’re running short of new ideas 🙂 )

Also, how about for next year (so there’s plenty time to work out how to do it), each team also has to run a women’s team as well to qualify for points. The UCI don’t seem to doing much so maybe the weight of Road.cc’s thousands of cycling fantasists might boost the status of the women’s peloton.

It’d be cool if the comp started earlier (TdU, Qatar etc) so there’d be even less days in the year when I don’t have anything interesting to do in the morning at work /:)

BTW, if you’ve selected a region in your road.cc account, you’re now automatically entered into your region’s league. I’m 12th in the South West. Yay!

More work to do on that, we’re going to do some comparative data on different regions to see who’s best 😀

    last two comments (+ comments
last two comments (+ comments after the classics) about team selection will be addressed when we roll out our new, amazing, superfluid team selection engine next year. The one we tried to implement earlier this year that kept deleting everyone’s teams. that one. but better.

Seriously though, we’re working through a system whereby you can pick a more varied selection of riders, so there’ll be a maximum in each category: probably 1x gc, 2x km, 2x pc, 3x ar, as many ds as you like. That’ll give you more options in the smaller races and also make team selection a bit more fluid in the tours. plus you’ll be able to do all your transfers at once.

Phew a lot of posts since I
Phew a lot of posts since I had a few days r and r

The only things that get to me are when the number of choices in a section gets so small like the KM section in the TDS, and having multiple GC cyclists from the same team.

The points scoring is transparent and easy to understand, it’s near impossible in competing games.

I think that there should be
I think that there should be three all rounders and three domestiques. There appears to be far too much talent (points scoring wise) in the former, and far less in the latter. It would also enable a more interesting selection based on likely tactics from the big teams. Maybe also, bump the credits up to 200 to cover the extra cost of the all roundres?

At least this way the form button can be a bum steer for the lzay.

We’re always looking at the way the game is scored, and we’ve got some ideas for next season to better reward people who specifically do well in a stage. but like tony says, it needs to be stuff we can easily find out from the offical results, and those vary wildly.

going on form will only get you so far: by the time someone’s been doing well enough to build up a decent form score, their good streak may well be over. And it won’t help you pick the climbers after five flat stages…

Hey if you do introduce a fee, you might be able to upgrade Dave from peanuts to cashews for pay 😀 and the odd can of energy drink when the servers go “nuts”

Yeah i understand the problem waiting for results, but its the biggest race of the year, everyone covering in, including the BBC for a change 😕

    Yeah

    Don’t tempt us GKam84!!

Yeah I agree we don’t want it be easy to get the really big scores, but I don’t think you can play it safe and score really big anyway, you can do repectably but you have to put the work in to do better, scoring in the Grand Tours is generally not as easy anyway. We have looked at sticking in all sorts of other points – problem is there that they aren’t always available that quickly. So at the Giro we’d have been waiting ages to get the scores in.

We’ve got no plans to do that… unless you all want to pay?!! :O

I’m not talking about losing players, i’m just meaning weeding out the people who are very lucky or picking the “easy safe picks” and not taking a chance of break aways and random DS on the off chance they might just stay away

I’d like to see it as hard as possible to get top points, so higher points for break aways and less for sprint and group finishes, plus including mountain top finish points because there are always going to be some randoms up there

Making the game very hard to score points

Also, yeah if this game continues, i wouldn’t mind paying for it, as long as your not asking a fortune, £5 a season, something like that 😕

And yeh like you say it has become rather easy in places. Hopefully the resetting of credits may weed some out as well

Because the only ones who have form were in the TdS, thats the last 5 stages, after that its in alphabetical order

It’s because he raced the Dauphiné rather than the TdS, meaning that for the last 7 stages of the game he hasn’t been racing. To my mind form should be based on the last 5 stages contested rather than the last 5 that happened, but I guess that’s harder to implement.

    Comparing form and score is
Comparing form and score is already part of the game, you just have to go about in a more laborious way. I don’t see how making it less time consuming is dumbing down – anyway playing the game like that will only get you so far, just like in the race you’ll still need a dollop of luck and to play your hunches, pretty much in ever stage someone will come out of the pack who’s done nothing up until then.

Anyway GKAM we’re not trying to weed people out we are trying to attract people in. If we wanted to keep the numbers down we’d charge people to play.
