Lube!

In a sentence I’ve used a few times in varying situations, what lubes do you people use? I’ve never used a dry lube, I was wondering if people do and what all the fuss is about. At the mo, I’m using that TFT (TF2? TFSomething) spray, but I’m wondering if I’m missing out on a lubey treat….

    Thanks!

    I’m currently using this stuff:

Best label I’ve ever seen (smells like engine oil though, you wouldn’t want to wear it)

I haven’t done the 1000 miles just yet but I’ve put a few hundred in and all is good, chain is still running nice and quiet.

Tried the Finish line Ceramic stuff too, good stuff but needs the black/dirty stuff wiping off regularly. Doesn’t seem to be a problem with the No.5 ………………………………so far!

    I like Finish Line Wax
I like Finish Line Wax Ceramic (or is it Ceramic Wax? yes, I believe it is). Seems to last well, quiets things down nicely and doesn’t need to be applied as often as dry lube. But in the winter I’ll go for something gloopier.

I will only touch the red lid
I will only touch the red lid stuff, green attracts too much dust for me (richmond park).

    My current favourite is Rock
My current favourite is Rock N Roll Extreme. You put on excess, the solvent mobilises the old lube and dirt, you wipe off all you can with an absorbent cloth (I use kitchen paper), and the solvent evaporates from what is left to leave the lubricating wax behind inside the rollers.

    I think the ideal lube
I think the ideal lube depends very much on where you ride.

I used to live in London where a dry lube was ideal as any road grime sticking to the chain would ware through drive components in no time. I now live in a rural part of France and find a wet lube works very well any dirt that sticks seem not to cause excessive damage.
Maybe this is a better question for your local bike shop or club.

The one thing I’m sure of is that if you use a spray lube you cant help but to put too much oil on your chain.

I’m too lazy to use dry lubes, the longer something stays on my chain the better đŸ™‚
